Spanish carved oak chest on legs, early 18th Century

Description

This elegant chest on legs from Spain dates back to around 1700 and is a magnificent example of Baroque decorations. The chest stands on imposing legs adorned with claw feet holding a ball. The piece is richly decorated with a diamond pattern in relief, as well as leaf and C-scroll motifs.

A distinctive feature of this piece is the putti heads on the corners of the legs. The chest has a later patinated finish with worn blue and white patina and gold details, giving it a unique and characterful appearance.

The bottom of the chest has been replaced and the back has been restored.
