Antique 19th century Sarrancolin marble fireplace

Very large and beautiful antique Louis XIV fireplace, made of Sarrancolin marble. This beautiful French mantelpiece from the 19th century is richly decorated with deeply carved ‘trois coquilles’ ornaments. Sarrancolin is an impressive marble that originated in France, the multicolored base in combination with reddish veins and green / gray accents make it a very attractive marble. The most beautiful fireplaces with this Sarrancolin marble can be found in the Louvre and in the mirror room in Versailles.
