Antique marble sculpture of Diana/Artemis with dog

This 18th-century antique marble sculpture represents the classical female figure Diana, the Roman goddess of the hunt, and her Greek counterpart Artemis. The statue depicts a woman in a flowing garment, accompanied by a dog – a common symbol in depictions of Diana and Artemis.

The spear she holds was added later. The sculpture is of Dutch origin. There are some minor damages, such as to the wrist and the corners of the crescent moon on her head.
