Pair of Dutch Busts from the Early 18th Century (±1720-1740)

Description

These impressive hand-carved busts, made from white Carrara marble, date from the early 18th century, around 1720-1740. They are a beautiful example of Dutch sculpture from that time.

The busts of a man and a lady are inspired by Roman examples. These works of art probably occupied a prominent place at the front of a mansion or in the garden of a canal house. Both busts stand on sturdy steel pedestals, which further emphasizes their impressive presence. These marble works of art are not only a tribute to craftsmanship and aesthetics, but also a tangible connection to the rich cultural heritage of the 18th century.
